Healthcare or Highway Robbery?

Your money or your life? Isn't that what highwaymen used to say back in the day? That same insurance plan highwaymen offered you then is offered today by American Healthcare companies. There is no getting around it. America's for-profit health care system is nothing less than criminal. Government sanctioned highway robbery.

In April of 2018 CNBC reported on a Goldman-Sachs memo which recommended that the medical profession not concentrate on cures. The profits lie in continued treatment not in one visit cures.

Stockpiling supplies that may never be needed is a waste of corporate money. That is why we didn't have supplies available when we needed them during the initial onslaught of our Covid-19 pandemic.

It was not an accident or incompetence that was to blame for our initial supply shortage, it was the intended business plan. They gambled with our lives, that we might never need those supplies, and we lost their bet.

Thousands died for the lack of preparedness. Hospitals where overwhelmed, respirators nonexistent, beds, gowns, gloves, and masks where nowhere to be found. Our leaders called the health-care workers heroes, then, as if unable to comprehend the situation, wasted weeks politicizing the issue before gradually providing the much needed equipment.

In the face of a looming great depression and a worldwide pandemic, both major Presidential Candidates have already said there will be no national healthcare. They refer to the great lie that it is much too expensive. Well, yes it is if you give most of the money to the insurance companies that sponsor them.

If we think that running America as a business, instead of as the community it is, is our best option, then, profits will always come before people.
